Bull - Bear Markets & Short Selling

Two of the basic concepts of stock market trading are “bull” and “bear” markets. The term bull market is used to refer to a stock market in which the price of stocks is generally rising. This is the type of market most investors prosper in, as the majority of stock investors are buyers, rather than short-sellers, of stocks. A bear market exists when stock prices are overall declining in price.

Investors can still profit even in bear markets through short selling.

What does it mean to be bullish market: to be bullish means to have a positive outlook on the market, expecting that the prices of stocks, commodities, currencies, or other assets will rise in the future. A bullish investor believes that there are more opportunities to profit from buying and holding the assets, or from taking long position in the market.

A bullish investor may also be confident about the economic growth ,low inflation, high consumer demand, and favorable government policies.

What does it mean to be bearish market: to be bearish means to have a negative outlook on the market, expecting that the prices of stocks, commodities ,currencies, or other assets will fall in the future. A bearish investor believes that there are more risks than rewards n the market, and that it is better to sell or short sell the assets, or to take defensive positions in the market.

A bearish investor may also be pessimistic about the economic slowdown. High consumer demand, and unfavorable government policies.
